behind the lens

Aurora Photography is a small photography and design service based out of Northern Ontario. Beginning as a hobby over a decade ago, I've been serving clients in multiple facets - from weddings to sporting events - for the better part of the last five years while pursuing postsecondary education. I offer casual photography services at competitive pricing and work with clients in all budgets to help accommodate them to achieve their visions.

Life gets pretty busy sometimes. I offer no-penalty cancellations (minus your minimum deposit) and will work with you to reschedule when life settles back down. My main priority is to provide clients with a comfortable experience and give them a product that they can cherish for years to come.

frequently asked questions

Do you offer engagement sessions as part of your wedding packages? Yes! They come standard with all packages that I offer. I like to make sure to include engagement sessions for a few reasons. Mainly, there's a good chance it might be the first time that the couple has had their photo formally taken together, so it helps you feel more comfortable with the idea of somebody following you around all day on an already busy date. It also gives us a chance to meet beforehand, so I can get a better feel for how you interact with one another and you get a feel for how your photos will be taken during your wedding.

How do we stop our guests from interfering with our vendors (i.e. photographers/videographers) while they're working? This is a common stressor for couples, especially since it's one more thing to fret about on an already hectic date. After you receive your package, you have the option to share your photos with these guests, so perhaps reminding them of that will discourage them from pulling out their phones. While I will do my best to enforce and act as your back-up, I highly encourage clients to casually let guests know ahead of time (either in conversation or through a wedding website), or to have a sign at the entrance to the ceremony location stating that the couple would prefer if the ceremony was "unplugged".

We are so awkward in front of the camera, and have never had our photos taken by a photographer before. How do we prepare for this? It's my job to make you feel as comfortable as you can be. I will always make a point to get to know clients beforehand to first make sure that we're compatible (even before you book), and figure out how best to provide services. At your session, I'll take the first few minutes to chat - honestly, about anything. One of the ways we avoid stiff smiles is by getting you loosened up and moving!

What do we wear? Depends on the season, and depends on you. You should always wear something that feels comfortable and confident. Most of my prompts for photos are based in actions, so something that allows you to move your body is best. If you're out of ideas, check out my outfit guide.

I don't see exactly what I'm looking for in your pricing guide. What now? Send me an email, let's figure something out! The pricing guide is used as a starting point, but if it fits your needs from the get go then I'm thrilled! I also offer a la carte for certain items, like additional time or photo albums.

Do you offer print services? In short - no. I can recommend a handful of local businesses and larger companies that will provide these services for you. Alternatively, I will reach out to these businesses and get quotes on the items at cost (material + labour, no upcharge).

Do you offer mini sessions? I do! Keep an eye out on my social media channels to see available dates and rates.

What programs do you have experience with? I've been an Adobe nerd since 2008, when I received my first Wacom Bamboo Fun tablet. I work with multiple products in the Adobe suite - primarily in Photoshop CS and Premiere Pro, however I also have former experience in other now-Adobe software including Dreamweaver and the now-defunct Fireworks. I enjoy basic web design using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. I have exposure to other programming languages, including C+, Java, Python and MATLAB.
